Days 5 and 6
Yet again I have forgot to blog about my practising :( I have fninished practising the entire piece and now all I'm focusing on is the triplets. These are troubling me because I am not sure exactly what tempo to play them at and this could be a slight problem. I have not practised them at a very high tempo which might make we quite uncomfortabl when playing. All in all this has not been an EXTREMELY difficult piece to learn but it has been challenging in some aspects. I am not used to tripletes or many accents and dynamic changes as I am normally a timpani player This assignment has helped me alot with my snare drum playing and I think that I have improved as a player :)

Day 4 of Practising
My objective for today was bars 29 to 37. There is not much to say on these bars except that they are completely identical to the first 9 bars except for a few minor dynamic changes. I found practising these bars were not very hard at all because i was used to the rhythms. I am still having just a bit of trouble with all the accents on these rhythms. I feel that after a bit more practise and after I slow it down a little I will be able to play this passage and the identical one nicely.

Day 2 and 3 of Studying
Since i failed to do my blog on friday I will now combine both fridays practicing and saturdays in this blog. I have been practising bars 9 to 29 and I must say this is my favourite part of the piece. I dont know why it is but it just sounds the best to me. At the beginning I had a bit of trouble adjusting to tripletes but I fell as though now I can do them extremely well. I was also having a bit of trouble with the accents on the first note of the tripelet and the last in some cases. I had no trouble at all with the flam eight notes, they came very easily to me. This section is not as filled with dynamic changes as the rest of the piece is. All in all this was not a challenging few bars to play and I believe after practising for about 20 minutes that I can play the rhythms as well as the accents and the dynamics smoothly.

First Day of Practising
Today is the first day I set my efforts on practising. I am shooting for the first 9 bars of the piece. I have been practising these bars over and over for about 15 minutes now and I am having a bit of trouble making sure the accents are noticible. Of course drumming on a table does not help. I started the bars fast but than realised that I must take it slow in order to incorporate all of the accents. The accents are generally in the same places but there are some exceptions that catch me off guard while I am playing. I am also having a bit of trouble with the crescendos. There is one crescendo where I go from Piano to Fortissimo and another that goes from Piano to Forte. To me when I play these I cannot tell the difference between my Fortissimo and my Forte and this is going to be something that I will have to work on.

Looking over the piece
Finally the blog has been set up, the piece has been looked over a few times and there are some things I instantly noticed...
1. This piece does not have any really challenging beats however it will be a challenge to incorporate all the accents into them.
2. I will have to pay careful attention to the dynamics of the piece, the dynamics change often.
3. I will have to take the piece slowly at first so I can incorporate all of the crescendos and decrescendos.
4. Although this piece may be tricky if I practise a few bars each night I will be able to get through it and do it well
That is all for now !
